Under the artistic direction of Ivan Gil-Ortega, his second season reflects a company with the confidence to honour its heritage while continually looking forward.
From the world premiere of The Little Prince - My First Ballet and the Australian premiere of Doña Perón: The Story of Evita to the glamour and spectacle of Derek Deane's Strictly Gershwin, 2027 is a season filled with unforgettable moments. Alongside contemporary works including Soirée and Elegantly Wasted, and the return of The Nutcracker, the program showcases the remarkable breadth of ballet in all its forms.
Together, these works balance the familiar with the unexpected, intimate storytelling with grand spectacle, and timeless classics with bold new creations. In 2027, we are proud to announce that we are adding new multi-year regional and greater Brisbane partnerships to our existing partnership with the Home of the Arts, Gold Coast, with more to be announced.
Much more than touring, this is a curated approach to establish, reconnect and deepen relationships beyond Brisbane. Backed by a public and private investment model, it invites Community Champions and Councils across host communities to have greater involvement with Queensland Ballet.
