#2027 Education Offerings
We’re delighted to share Queensland Ballet’s 2027 Education Program, bringing engaging, curriculum-connected dance experiences to schools and communities across Queensland, alongside Immersion Experiences and educator networking and Professional Development sessions at the Thomas Dixon Centre.
Every program is developed with a strong understanding of ACARA Version 9 Dance, QCAA Senior Dance, relevant VET Dance pathways and the realities of Queensland school contexts. Our experienced Education team works closely with Teaching Artists and valued industry contributors to create learning experiences that are rigorous, relevant, creative and connected to professional practice.

#School Holiday Workshops
In-House Immersion Experience: Summer School Holiday Program
11 - 22 January | 10am - 2pm | Thomas Dixon Centre
Join us at the Thomas Dixon Centre for an energetic and interactive Immersion Experience that invites children to discover how the skills they already use in their favourite sports, hobbies and activities can help them move like a ballet dancer.
Alongside the practical workshop, children enjoy a backstage tour of the Thomas Dixon Centre and a Q&A with a Queensland Ballet Company dancer or staff member, offering an insight into professional dance and the people who make it happen.
Cost: $730 incl. GST
In-House Immersion Experience: Autumn School Holiday Program
30 March - 9 April | 10am - 2pm | Thomas Dixon Centre
Designed for primary-aged Vacation Care groups, this active and engaging Immersion Experience explores ballet through the physcal skills children already use in their everyday lives.
The experience combines practical movement exploration with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Thomas Dixon Centre and a Q&A with a Queensland Ballet Company artist or staff member, giving children the opportunity to experience the home of a professional dance company and discover more about the people and work behind the performances.
Cost: $730 incl. GST
In-House Immersion Experience: Winter School Holiday Program
28 June - 9 July | 10am - 2pm | Thomas Dixon Centre

Kombumerri Dreaming Teacher Resource Workshop
11 February (Term 1, Week 3) | Thomas Dixon Centre
Returning in 2027 by popular demand, this co-created and co-facilitated professional learning workshop introduces teachers to the Kombumerri Dreaming Teachers Resource Kit, a classroom tool designed to support the respectful integration of a First Nations perspective into teaching and learning.

Regional Tour: Stanthorpe
Term 1, Week 6
Our Community and Education team are en route to Stanthorpe in 2027 as we tour Icons: Ballet's Greatest Hits, in partnership with Southern Downs Regional Council.
In March 2027, our team will be visiting Stanthorpe and surrounds to deliver FREE and subsidised In-School Workshops, one-off Community Classes and Masterclasses and other programs designed to engage and inspire, learn and share.

In-House Immersion Experience: Soirée
Thursday 22 April (Term 2, Week 2) | 10am - 2pm | Thomas Dixon Centre
Step into the vibrant world of the Academy of Queensland Ballet’s Soirée and discover how visual art can inspire choreography, movement and performance. Inspired by the colourful work of one of Australia’s most beloved artists, Margaret Olley, this Thomas Dixon Centre Immersion Experience explores the creative connections between visual art, music and dance.

In-House Immersion Experience: Music and Musicality
Term 2, Week 5 | 10am - 2pm | Thomas Dixon Centre
We are pleased to invite Primary and Year 7-10 students for an engaging day focused on the intricate relationship between music and dance. This unique Immersion Experience offers students the opportunity to explore how musical elements like tempo, rhythm and dynamics influence and impact choreography and performance. Students will also be provided with an authentic concert environment in which to experience famous dance repertoire performed live by a symphony orchestra.

In-House Immersion Experience: Curate Your Own
21 - 25 June (Term 2, Week 11) | 10am - 2pm | Thomas Dixon Centre
Choose from a range of experiences including dance technique and repertoire, choreography and creative practice, dancer health, production and design, careers in dance, responding inspiration or Dance Health. We’ll work with you to shape a meaningful half-day experience that connects your students’ classroom learning with the professional world of Queensland Ballet. Subject to availability.

Teacher Connect: Share the Season - Doña Perón: The Story of Evita
Tuesday 24 August | From 5:30pm | Thomas Dixon Centre
Connect with fellow teachers, Queensland Ballet’s Education team and Company through conversation and a performance based on our upcoming 2027 season of Doña Perón: The Story of Evita.
Join us at the Thomas Dixon Centre for a relaxed opportunity to meet other teachers, connect with our Education team and take part in a short, curated conversation about the work you’re about to see.

Queensland Ballet at HOTA – School Workshops and Teacher PD
Term 3, Week 9 | Home of the Arts, Gold Coast
In 2027, Queensland Ballet returns to HOTA on the Gold Coast with two opportunities for secondary Dance students and teachers to connect with professional dance practice, contemporary choreography and the creative processes behind a major Queensland Ballet production.
Queensland Ballet at HOTA - Dance for Adults and Active Seniors

Join Queensland Ballet Teaching Artists for a joyful movement and repertoire class created especially for adults and active seniors.
