Zenia Tàtcheva

Zenia Tàtcheva received her ballet training at the University of Cape Town Ballet School and enjoyed a successful career with CAPAB, PACT Ballet, the South African Ballet Theatre and the Queensland Ballet.

With the above companies her principal repertoire includes roles in the major classical ballets, including Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Don Quixote, Paquita, The Nutcracker, La Sylphide, Papillon, Napoli and Les Sylphides, as well as works by renowned choreographers of modern times.

Parallel to her dancing career, Zenia has been engaged as a guest teacher and coach by various organisations in South Africa and Australia. She has also served as an adjudicator for several national and international ballet competitions.

After her retirement from stage, Zenia took the position of classical coach with the Queensland Ballet Academy where she was involved in the training and development of students across the Academy and Pre-Professional Programs, focusing on the Academy’s graduating students and stepping into the role of Head of Pre-Professional Program in 2020.

In 2022, Zenia was appointed Queensland Ballet’s Ballet Mistress.
