Jake McLarnon

Guest Contemporary Teacher

Born in Perth, Jake completed his training at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Upon graduating, Jake joined the Australian Dance Theatre in 2014 with performance highlights such as Be Yourself, Proximity and Birdbrain. 

Jake then joined the Australasian Dance Collective (ADC) in 2016 for the remount of When Time Stops before returning to the Australian Dance Theatre to perform Objekt.

Jake became an ADC company member in 2016 under the direction of Natalie Weir, performing in works such as Behind Closed Doors, Mozart Airborne and 4Seasons. He continued to work with the company under the new direction of Amy Hollingsworth, contributing to the development of many new works such as THREE, Arc, Forgery and Aftermath. Jake’s final season with ADC was Aftermath performed at the Brisbane Powerhouse in 2021.

As a choreographer, Jake created a work for the 2017 Tenerife Festival collaborating with visual artist Matt Sheridan and TWFine Art. Other choreographic works include Iso for ADC's Converge (a collaboration with Queensland Conservatorium) as well as works for ADC's Youth Ensemble Shift and Denise. He has worked with the ADC Youth Ensemble extensively since its formation and continues to share his knowledge with students teaching and choreographing at various institutions.
