Craig Wilkinson
#Biography
Craig Wilkinson APDG is an award-winning video designer for live performance and the creative director of optikal bloc.
His video design work has toured extensively across Australia and internationally, including presentations in Hong Kong, the UK, North America, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa.
Craig’s recent work in live performance includes Dracula (Sydney Theatre Company), soon to be remounted on the West End; the stage adaptation of the award-winning novel Grief is the Thing with Feathers (Belvoir St Theatre); the record-breaking adaptation of Trent Dalton’s Boy Swallows Universe, and its follow-up Love Stories (Queensland Theatre / Brisbane Festival / QPAC); Let’s Be Friends Furever (The Good Room / Brisbane Festival / HOTA); Shaun the Sheep’s Circus Show (CIRCA / Aardman Animations / QPAC); Frankenstein, and the critically acclaimed Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox (shake & stir theatre co / QPAC).
He has also contributed to one of Australia’s most successful theatrical exports, Dein Perry’s Tap Dogs (Broadway Entertainment Group), and was the Australian Associate Video Designer on the Australian and New Zealand tour of Jim Steinman’s Bat Out of Hell: The Musical (TEG Dainty).
Craig is an accredited member of the Australian Production Design Guild and has been a seasonal lecturer in Live Performance Video Design at Queensland University of Technology since 2015. In 2022, he was awarded a Brisbane City Council Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowship.
As a video producer, Craig has developed video marketing campaigns for leading arts organisations including Sydney Theatre Company, Queensland Theatre, shake & stir theatre co, La Boite Theatre, and Brisbane Festival.
