Claus Spahn

#Biography

Claus Spahn is a dramaturg, writer, and librettist from Germany with a focus on contemporary music, baroque works, and innovative musical-theatrical projects. Since 2012, he has led dramaturgy at Opernhaus Zürich, where he developed a close creative collaboration with Christian Spuck. Together, they have worked on productions such as Anna Karenina, Messa da Requiem, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, and The Little Match Girl.

Spahn has also contributed his dramaturgical expertise to projects involving composers like Heinz Holliger, Wolfgang Rihm, and Helmut Lachenmann, as well as working with directors including Sebastian Baumgarten, Herbert Fritsch, Jan-Philipp Gloger, Tatjana Gürbaca, Andreas Homoki, Barrie Kosky, and David Marton.
