Claire Voss

Claire Voss is a French-born ballerina and choreographer whose career has spanned more than 18 years across some of the world’s leading ballet companies, including Dortmund Ballet, Zurich Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, and West Australian Ballet. Throughout her career, she has performed an extensive range of principal and soloist roles, among them the Sugar Plum Fairy (The Nutcracker), the Sylph (La Sylphide), Gamzatti (La Bayadère), Myrtha (Giselle), and Olga (Onegin). Her choreographic voice has been deeply shaped by working with renowned choreographers such as William Forsythe, Johan Inger, Krzysztof Pastor, Hans van Manen, Nils Christe, and Nacho Duato. These experiences inspired her to develop a distinctive neo-classical language that merges classical technique and pointework with urgent, contemporary themes.

Claire’s first major work, Simplicity (2018), created for West Australian Ballet, premiered in Genesis, toured internationally to the Shanghai International Arts Festival, and was later reprised for Ballet at the Quarry. Since then, she has created a wide range of works for West Australian Ballet and beyond, including In the Arms of Euterpe for WAAPA, Elisabeth with H.I.P Company, and Echoes of Tomorrow, presented at the Sydney Opera House for Ballet Collective Australia. Her latest independent project, Signal-30, explores climate change and water scarcity, underscoring her commitment to making ballet a vehicle for contemporary dialogue. Passionate about innovation and relevance, Claire continues to create works that bridge the elegance of ballet with the pressing issues of our time, offering audiences both beauty and meaning.
