“I was there every single day for three years. I got to practice with such consistency under amazing teachers… They taught me everything I know… There’s been a lot of different things that I’ve been able to do because of the Academy. I got to go to the Prix de Lausanne!”

Pre-Professional Program dancer, Jenson Blight, reflects on his time at Queensland Ballet Academy and the role it has played in his enabling him to pursue his dreams.

Jenson started training at the Academy when he was 10 years old and earlier this year, he was a finalist and Astarte Scholarship Award recipient at the prestigious Prix de Lausanne international ballet competition in Switzerland.

You can see Jenson perform in our upcoming Bespoke season before he joins the Dutch National Ballet’s Junior Company in the Netherlands.

Hear more about Jenson’s Academy experience and the exciting opportunities ahead as he starts the next chapter of his dance journey.

We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
