Dancers on Country with Katina Olsen

Dancers on Country with Katina Olsen

New works are essential to a vibrant and sustainable arts and culture landscape.

They enable us to provide opportunities to explore new ideas, engage emerging talent, and push the boundaries of art as a vehicle for storytelling.

This year, we are pleased to share that our Bespoke season features three new and daring contemporary works including gundirgan, wise woman a piece from Wakka Wakka and Kombumerri choreographer Katina Olsen.

Katina is currently in the process of gathering ideas for movement and storytelling, collaborating with the dancers themselves to create the premiere First Nations work. This process includes spending time on Country yarning with Olsen's Elders and community to ensure Cultural protocol is upheld and respected. Watch our dancers and Katina be inspired by their time at Ban Ban Springs, a sacred sight for the local Wakka Wakka people.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
