#The Choreography

JOAN
Choreographed by First Company Artist Sophie Zoricic
Inspired by the enduring legacy of Joan of Arc, JOAN is a bold contemporary work that explores courage, conviction and the quiet power of following one’s inner voice. Drawing from the story of the 15th-century French heroine, who defied expectations, challenged gender norms and led with unwavering belief, this work examines what it means to stand firm in your truth in a complex, modern world.

The Metamorphosis
Choreographed by Company Artist Leona Takada
The piece is inspired by Kafka’s novel The Metamorphosis. The Story follows Gregor, a man who wakes up one morning to find that he has transformed into an insect. While the novel explores the struggles faced by both Gregor and his family as they adapt to his new condition, this ballet focuses on mainly on the perspective of his sister: Grete.

Innocent Reflections
Choreographed by Company Artist Shaun Curtis
Inspired through the music “Kinderszenen” by Robert Schumann. Childhood moments and memories remembered through a mature lens.
“Kinderszenen” (Scenes from Childhood) was composed for adults to reflect on their childhood. Innocent and spritely but also equally nostalgic and reflective. I feel like this music sits perfectly for the Young Artists of this company. While just starting there professional career and still developing as creatives and artists they also have had their own lives, experiences and memories which can hold equal value to any other more “mature” individual.
