The Nutcracker

8 December — 16 December, Lyric Theatre, QPAC

You’re invited into a magical world of festive wonder.

After her family’s annual celebration, little Clara is wide awake on Christmas Eve. Everyone has gone to sleep, the clock chimes midnight and a magical fantasy unfolds before her eyes!

Clara’s gift of a Nutcracker comes to life, mischievous mice are foiled by toy soldiers, a handsome Prince takes her on a fairy tale adventure and a blizzard of ballerinas reveal an enchanting Land of Sweets, ruled by the beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy.

With the magnificent music of Tchaikovsky and lavish sets and costumes, Ben Stevenson’s The Nutcracker is a must-see Christmas treat.

Li Cunxin to return to the stage for The Nutcracker 2017

Li will join the Company on stage for one very special performance of The Nutcracker this year.

After selected performances at QPAC, a panel of creative artists and dancers discusses aspects of the ballet you’ve just seen.

Informative, keepsake programs are distributed free-of-charge at all performances. You can also view the program online before the performance.

Before performances of The Nutcracker, a storyteller will read the classic tales to children, so they enter the theatre full of expectation and excitement.

Introduce your students to dance through our range of dance workshops for all ages and abilities. Our EdSquad dancers come to your school to deliver safe, educative and inspiring dance experiences.
