Rise and Shine – Mindful Movement on the Kite Terrace

Start your day off with a gentle yet invigorating movement workshop with sweeping views of the Brisbane skyline.

Join us for a 45-minute workshop on the Thomas Dixon Centre’s Kite Terrace to ‘wake-up’ your bodies and mind with movement. In this energising session, our skilled Queensland Ballet Teaching Artist will take you through a combination of adapted exercises influenced by dance, yoga, and body conditioning. You’ll walk away from the session feeling grounded and connected to your bodies, and ready to start your day with a spring in your step.

This workshop is designed for active adults of all ages and is a mat-based class; participants will flow between seated, kneeling and standing postures throughout. We highly recommend that you bring your own mat from home for your personal comfort; a limited number of yoga mats will be available for use for those participants who do not own a mat.

Following your class, unwind with your pre-ordered drink, delivered straight from Tom’s Kitchen Café to the Kite Terrace. Stay a while to savour the view and enjoy good company as you round off your morning.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
