Student Profile: Jack Jones

“When I was four years old, I followed in my sister’s footsteps and started taking ballet lessons.
While I was training from ages four – 15, I would go and watch Queensland Ballet’s productions and loved them more than any other performances I’d seen. I was so inspired that I auditioned for a child’s role in their first season of Ben Stevenson’s Nutcracker! I danced in that role for two years and also participated in a season of Coppelia, La Sylphides, and The Sleeping Beauty.
I auditioned for the Associate Program at Queensland Ballet Academy as soon as I could. I was then delighted to take up a position in the Academy’s Senior Program. The experience has given me skills in discipline, creativity, performance and expression – all necessary attributes to become a professional. I dream to one day join Queensland Ballet as a Company dancer.
My advice to new Academy students is to give it everything you’ve got! Never stop trying to improve, take on every bit of advice, correction and wisdom from your teachers. Everything is a choice, do your absolute best to make the right ones!”
