This experience offers students a rare insight into the discipline and artistry involved in professional dance, enhancing their understanding of the art form.
  • Exclusive Access to Thomas Dixon Centre: Students tour the newly refurbished home of Queensland Ballet, exploring areas such as the Talbot Theatre, rehearsal studios, and production spaces. This exclusive access to the centre’s creative and technical facilities provides an inside look at the world of a professional dance company, highlighting the collaborative effort behind each performance.
  • Curriculum-Aligned Dance Workshops: Engage in a hands-on dance class or workshop designed to complement classroom learning and, where possible, tailored to the current unit of work or area of interest. These practical sessions align with curriculum goals, ensuring the experience is a meaningful addition to students’ educational journeys.
  • Personalised Q&A with Industry Professionals: Students participate in a Q&A with Queensland Ballet staff from departments such as Dancer Health, Wardrobe, Technical Production, Design, or Artistic. This tailored interaction provides students with insights into various career paths in the dance industry, as well as valuable advice and knowledge from those working behind the scenes.
  • Inspiration for Aspiring Artists: Exposure to the professional environment and creative process at Queensland Ballet serves as a powerful inspiration, encouraging students to explore their own artistic ambitions.

Aligned with the ACARA Version 9 Dance curriculum, this Immersion Experience supports the General Capabilities of Critical and Creative Thinking and Personal and Social Understanding. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
