#Term 1

Puppetry & Choreography for Arts Teachers with Dead Puppet Society and Queensland Ballet

Date: Week 5 - 25 February 2026
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Location: Thomas Dixon Centre
Cost: $330.00 incl. GST

This full-day professional learning workshop invites generalist and specialist Primary teachers, as well as middle-years Dance and Drama educators, to explore the intersection of puppetry and movement in arts education. Guided by Dead Puppet Society’s Youth and Engagement Director and Queensland Ballet’s Education Manager, participants will engage in curriculum-aligned practical puppetry and movement making exercises.

Inspired by Amelia Waller’s Curious Beings, created in collaboration with Dead Puppet Society for Queensland Ballet’s 2025 Bespoke season, the workshop offers hands-on experience in puppet building and manipulation skills, movement and choreography, and real-world insights into interdisciplinary creative practice.

Exploring Garry Stewart’s Elastic Hearts with Queensland Ballet

Date: Week 2 - Wednesday 29 April 2026
Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: Thomas Dixon Centre
Cost: $100.00 incl. GST

FOR TEACHERS - This 1.5 hour afternoon professional learning workshop introduces teachers to Garry Stewart’s new work Elastic Hearts, created for Queensland Ballet. Teachers will gain insight into Stewart’s choreographic process, learn adapted repertoire, and explore choreographic tasks inspired by professional rehearsal practice. The workshop concludes with the opportunity for discussion and Q&A with a member of the Elastic Hearts creative team and a special invitation to watch a section of the show’s dress rehearsal.

Kombumerri Dreaming Teachers Resource Kit

Date: Week 8 - Friday 4 September 2026
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Location: Sunshine Coast, Venue TBC
Cost: $275.00 incl. GST

Spend your Term 3 Student Free Day with us. Repeated in 2026 by request, this professional learning workshop introduces teachers to the Kombumerri Dreaming Teachers Resource Kit, a classroom tool designed to support the respectful integration of a First Nations perspective into teaching and learning. Grounded in storytelling and movement inspired by a Kombumerri Dreaming story shared by Traditional Custodian Uncle Max Dillon, this session empowers educators with accessible and engaging strategies to spark creativity and deepen students’ connections to place, community, and identity. The Kombumerri Dreaming project is a collaborative initiative between Dr Beth Tailby, a Kamilaroi woman and educator, Kombumerri Traditional Custodian, Uncle Max Dillon, and Queensland Ballet’s Community and Education team.
