Giving Day 2024

Thursday 8 August, 9am – 9pm

As a not-for-profit charity our annual Giving Day raises vital funds that power our vision.

For 12 hours on Thursday 8 August, all donations will be quadrupled thanks to the generous support of our visionary match donors.

Match donors give to the campaign in advance, and their support from $5,000 or more enables the quadrupling effect.

#Support the next generation of artists

All funds raised in 2024 will be directed towards Queensland Ballet Academy

Since 1967, Queensland Ballet has been training aspiring ballet dancers.

In 2018, an Australian-first concept for an elite training arts organisation to be housed on a state school site was born. The main premise was the provision of an integrated academic and elite training pathway to enable young people to receive a full face-to-face education whilst pursuing professional ballet training.

In 2020, the new Queensland Ballet Academy (QBA) facility was officially opened at KGSC.

Over the last 5 years, more than 6,300 students have engaged with the QBA programs and events.

Today, Queensland Ballet Academy continues to provide unparalleled opportunities for the next generation of artists.

Training opportunities

Each year over 1,050 aspiring young dancers are engaged through QBA holiday programs, events, and auditions as well as 270 enrolled students in QBA programs.

Performance opportunities

Academy students are offered extensive performance-based opportunities providing crucial on-stage experience to showcase and develop their artistry, technique and professionalism.

Career opportunities

Queensland Ballet alumni current make up 49% of the Company at Queensland Ballet.

In addition to this, recent alumni have gained professional employment throughout Australia and internationally with a further 29 companies.

Queensland deserves a world-stage Academy

Queensland deserves a world-stage Academy

Queensland Ballet Academy receives no Federal funding from Office for the Arts which funds like-organisations in NSW and VIC. Our Academy families rely on the power of philanthropy to bring industry-leading dance training to their children. Queensland Ballet Academy would not be where it is today without the generous support of our donors and sponsors who share our vision and are determined to support young people who choose to follow their dreams in Queensland.

Our vision

Queensland Ballet is driven by a vision to connect more people to the arts. Read about how our initiatives are bringing us closer to achieving this vision.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
