Queensland Ballet’s EdSquad will be on the road across regional Queensland from May to July 2019 delivering workshops in school and community settings. Young dancers aged 2 – 17 years, school and studio teachers and seniors and are invited to join us for a range of inclusive workshops to explore the wonderful world of ballet.

Free in-school workshops – Safe, educative and inclusive dance experiences for students in kindergartens and schools. These free workshops link to the Early Years Learning Framework, Australian Curriculum and Senior Dance Syllabus, complementing the teaching and learning currently taking place in Queensland classrooms.

Tiny Dancers – Designed to stimulate the imagination, musicality and natural movement in children aged 2 – 5 years. All participants will have a joyous experience with an important carer in their life.

Community ballet classes – For dancers 6 – 12 years of age, these community classes give participants a taste of all the fun Queensland Ballet has to offer. This is an inclusive experience focusing on exploring ballet technique.

Ballet for Seniors - This gentle class is especially tailored for Seniors, with a focus on improving poise, core strength, memory and mobility.

Masterclasses – Designed for ballet students aged 13-17 years, these classes are led by QB Company Artists and Artistic Staff to provide insight into the professional industry. In an up-close-and-personal setting, participants will learn and practice the knowledge and skills required to excel in this beautiful art form.

Teacher Professional Development – Professional Development workshops will be offered to regional teachers in 2019. Aimed at early years and primary school generalist teachers, this workshop offers tools to further inspire and engage your students in dance, with outcomes linked to the Australian Curriculum.

Wellbeing Workshop – An opportunity for dance studio teachers, dancers aged 10+ and their parents/carers to hear and learn from Queensland Ballet’s performance medicine team about wellbeing for dancers.  Topics covered include safe dance practices, injury prevention and management, nutrition and healthy lifestyles with top tips and practical exercises shared to promote a happy, healthy and well-balanced dancer.
