Queensland Ballet Academy's Audition Experience Day

#About the event

This event provides dance students from age 10 with the invaluable experience of a simulated ballet audition.

Queensland Ballet Academy once again presents Audition Experience Day. This event offers dance students from 10 years of age with the invaluable experience of a simulated ballet audition. Additional sessions on the day will provide insight and preparation for dance auditions in general, including for Queensland Ballet and Queensland Ballet Academy.

The audition class, taught by an industry professional with live piano accompaniment, will include a call-back element. A call-back is an invitation offered to select auditionees to return for a second audition class to demonstrate additional, more complex, material such as grand allegro (big jumps) or *pointe work for older students. Being a simulated audition, all participants will be involved in the call-back component and will receive group feedback from the teacher.

Audition Experience Day participants will also enjoy a body conditioning class, a video audition and resume preparation session and a Q&A and information forum. Questions will be welcomed from the young dancers.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and perform. Long before we performed on this land, it played host to the dance expression of our First Peoples. We pay our respects to their Elders — past, present and emerging — and acknowledge the valuable contribution they have made and continue to make to the cultural landscape of this country.
