Introducing Isaac

Isaac was born in Levin, about 100km north of Wellington. He started dancing when he was 8 years old with Paula Hunt Dance (now Wellington Dance and Performing Arts Academy). He continued at that studio as well as becoming an Associate and Scholar with the NZ School of Dance in 2014. In 2016, he got a Mentorship with the Royal New Zealand Ballet where he decided that he wanted to pursue dance as a career. Isaac joined the full-time course at the NZ School of Dance in 2017 and completed his 3 years of study in 2019.   During his studies he went on a one-month exchange with Canada National Ballet School, where he was privileged enough to personally meet Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Did you know…

Issac is one of four boys and is the only dancer in the family. He is also a keen musician and loves to play jazz guitar. I also played competitive hockey and swam competitively before deciding to commit all my time to dance.

“Put equal energy into building your technique and mastering your craft. Fuel your passion for that craft by developing your character, growing yourself as a being and your understanding of the cultures around you.”
