#About the program

The QB Petit Pointers program is designed for dance teachers, studio owners, early years educators and passionate dancers who are interested in delivering dance programs in their community.

The program lessons and pedagogy have been reviewed and enhanced by industry experts in early years education, and developed to support both the Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework.

The end result is an online early year’s dance syllabus that Queensland Ballet is very proud of and delighted to share with you!

QB Petit Pointers is a world-class dance-based syllabus for early years dance programs. Queensland Ballet prides itself on delivering this program to you virtually, as well as delivering the right tools for you to facilitate accessible learning and development.

The online program is designed to provide dance teachers and early years educators with an agile option for learning, and the six-module course can be easily completed at your own pace and in your own environment.

#QB Petit Pointers

QB Petit Pointers is underpinned by the Early Years Learning Framework and evidence-based research, providing a dance and movement program to complement and enhance child development.

QB Petit Pointers includes three levels:

  • Level 1 (1 – 2 school years)
  • Level 2 (2 – 3 school years)
  • Level 3 (4 – 5 school years)

The 10-week courses are structured to enable class participants of similar stages in physical, emotional and cognitive development to achieve a range of objectives and core skills through real-world lesson themes, enhanced by the magic of ballet.

Set within a framework of storytelling, exploration and artistic play, QB Petit Pointers encourages personal expression and development of confidence. The program is inclusive for all children and is created to easily adapt to any cohort. At the end of each course, children will have successfully developed some of the early foundation skills of ballet.

"Learning about how students learn and objectives of learning and understanding physical and emotional capacity for students at each age group, and how they develop was really beneficial to me as an emerging teacher, choreographer and creative."

- Savannah Stern, Choreographer & Creative
