Book Week

#Marvel in the magic of storytelling!

To celebrate Book Week, Queensland Ballet visits kindergartens and childcare centres across Brisbane to share the wonder of storytelling and movement, through delightful play-based workshops. By bringing stories to life, these carefully crafted, interactive workshops ignite imaginations while inspiring a passion for reading and dance in two to five-year old’s.

Each visit includes a 30-minute story-themed class modelled on our popular Petit Pointers program, developed to stimulate creativity and confidence in children under five years.

Book Week 2020 Workshops were based on the following books from the Premier’s Reading Challenge Early Childhood book list:

Coming Home to Country (2020) By Bronwyn Bancroft

Celeste The Giraffe Loves to Laugh (2019) By Celeste Barber

Coral Sea Dreaming (2017) By Kim Michelle Toft

#Premier's Reading Challenge

The Premier's Reading Challenge is an annual statewide initiative for state and non-state schools and home-educated students up to Year 9, as well as children (aged up to five years) enrolled in an early childhood centre, and individual home readers.

The Premier's Reading Challenge is not a competition but aims to improve literacy and encourage children to engage in reading for pleasure and learning.
