Book Week

23 August - 3 September 2021

Have Queensland Ballet come to your kindergarten or child care centre to bring storytelling to life!

Book Week

#Marvel in the magic of storytelling!

To celebrate Book Week, Queensland Ballet visits kindergartens and childcare centres across Brisbane to share the wonder of storytelling and movement, through delightful play-based workshops. By bringing stories to life, these carefully crafted, interactive workshops ignite imaginations while inspiring a passion for reading and dance in two to five-year old’s.

We are excited to be delivering 2021 Book Week workshops from 23 August - 3 September, based on the following books from the Premier’s Reading Challenge Early Childhood book list:

Sing me the Summer (2020) by Jane Godwin

Little Bird’s Day (2019) by Sally Morgan

Our Home, Our Heartbeat (2020) written by Adam Briggs, illustrated by Kate Moon and Rachael Sarra. Published by Little Hare, an imprint of Hardie Grant Publishing.

Each visit includes a 30-minute story-themed class modelled on our popular Petit Pointers program, developed to stimulate creativity and confidence in children under five years.

Cost per workshop: $175 incl GST

Workshops are available to kindergartens and early years centres in Greater Brisbane Region, located within Brisbane City Council, Ipswich City Council, Logan City Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council and Redland City Council. In 2021, QB Book Week workshops are powered by Mercedes Benz Brisbane and LSH Auto Australia.

#Premier's Reading Challenge

The Premier's Reading Challenge is an annual state-wide initiative for state and non-state schools and home-educated students up to Year 9, as well as children (aged up to five years) enrolled in an early childhood centre, and individual home readers.

The Premier's Reading Challenge is not a competition but aims to improve literacy and encourage children to engage in reading for pleasure and learning.
