Suncorp Wish Upon a Ballet Star 2018

Imagine appearing in one of the world's best loved ballets.

In 2018, Queensland Ballet and Principal Partner, Suncorp, will team up once again to help one aspiring young ballet dancer’s dreams come true in the Company’s production of The Nutcracker

One lucky Queensland boy or girl will win a walk-on role in a performance of QB’s much-loved Christmas ballet, as well as being immersed in the Company’s preparations for the season, rehearse with the Company dancers, being fitted with their own costume and working with the other young guest performers: a dream come true for many young dancers. This Major Prize winner will also take home a portable 1.5m Ballet Barre from A La Barre.

The People's Choice winner and the Suncorp Customer winner will win tickets to see The Nutcracker, as well as flights and accommodation for two people if the winner resides 300km outside Brisbane.

Queensland Ballet Artistic Director, Li Cunxin, believes the competition is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding initiatives the Company engages in.

“I’m thrilled the Suncorp Wish Upon a Ballet Star competition is back for its fifth year as we just love reaching out to and inspiring the many young talented Queenslanders with ballet dreams,” he said.
“We are so pleased that Suncorp partners with us to share the gift of ballet with as many people as possible. Their commitment to community is very admirable and their desire to make dreams come true is one of the reasons our partnership is so fruitful.
The Nutcracker is a traditional festive story, bringing children’s imaginations to life and this is exactly what we are hoping to achieve through the Suncorp Wish Upon a Ballet Star competition.
“Opportunities such as these are wonderful in creating and developing young talent. It’s not every day that a young dancer gets the opportunity to rehearse and perform on stage with professional dancers.”

Entries are open now (closing Friday 2 November), and parents and guardians can nominate children aged between 5 - 13 years by uploading a creative image representing the entrant’s passion for dance, and up to 100 words about a dance moment that left a lasting memory at
