Interstate auditions are held annually. Venues and dates to be advised in due course.
The Academy’s Associate Program is designed to supplement the work of community dance teachers and offers both teachers and students the chance to work more closely with Queensland’s state ballet company. The Associate Program (AP) gives gifted young dancers the opportunity to further develop their skills by working with their peers under the guidance of the Academy’s world class teachers.
In addition to the elite training provided, Associate students receive other invaluable benefits including the opportunity to view Company and Academy rehearsals and attend two mainstage performances as well as automatic membership to QB Junior Friends.
The Associate Program caters for students between the ages of 10 and 15 years. To be eligible for the 2019 Program, students must be a minimum of 10 years of age and no older than 14 years and 4 months at 1 February 2019 (ie. Must not turn 15 years old prior to 1 October 2019). Age is only used as a guide when placing students into the most suitable level and ongoing assessment throughout the year ensures all students are training in the correct level to gain full benefit from the Program.
Classes are held during school terms, every Tuesday (Level 2 Boys / Level 2 Girls) and Wednesday (Level 1 Boys / Level 1 Girls) from 5.15pm to 7pm, in Queensland Ballet’s studios at Thomas Dixon Centre in Brisbane’s West End. Classes are conducted with live piano accompaniment.
A regular Academy Teacher will be assigned to each level of the program. From time to time, classes may be taught by other members of the Academy or Artistic team. All teachers hold a Queensland Government Blue Card.
Entry to the Associate Program is by invitation or audition only. Annual auditions are held in November and online audition applications open mid-year.
