Junior Programs
Queensland Ballet’s Junior Programs are designed to supplement the training that talented young dance students receive from community dance schools and teachers. Participants are given the opportunity to further develop their skills by working with a group of their peers under the supervision of Queensland Ballet’s Artistic staff, associate teachers and when possible, guest teachers.
Each Program is open to up to 20 students. Classes include classical ballet, pointe work and male technique. Students will be offered the opportunity, when possible, to observe Company class and / or rehearsal as an adjunct to their Program and will be given first consideration in any instance when the Company requires juvenile performers for a production. However, performance opportunities are not a guaranteed part of the Program, and casting will be at the discretion of the Artistic Director and / or choreographer.
Junior Programs 2013
Two Junior Programs have already commenced in 2013:
Junior Program 1 (JP1): students aged 11 - 12 years
Junior Program 2 (JP2): students aged 13 - 14 years
The entry age is used as a guide when students successfully audition to enter the Programs. Each student is then regularly assessed and placed into a class that will suit his or her level of training, so that full benefit may be gained from the Program.
Classes are held over four terms per year, on every Tuesday from 4.30pm to 6.15pm, in Queensland Ballet’s studios at the Thomas Dixon Centre in Brisbane’s West End. The majority of classes have live piano accompaniment.
Junior Program 3
A third Junior Program (JP3) will commence on 17 April, 2013, catering for students aged 15 – 16 years. Classes will be held every Wednesday from 4.30 to 6.15pm during the remaining three terms of the year. The course fee for Junior Program 3 is $750 (inclusive for all three terms, payable upon commencement).

Auditions for Junior Program 3 will be held on Sunday, 24 March, 2013 at the Thomas Dixon Centre. Audition classes will commence at 10am; however, applicants will be contacted with an audition time closer to the date.
