Guest International Principal Dancer
Huang Junshuang trained for seven years and was an honour student at the Shanghai Dance School in China. His ability and artistry saw him offered a position as a Principal Dancer with the Guangzhou Ballet Company in 2007. In May 2010 Junshuang joined Houson Ballet as Principal Dancer.
His superb technique has won him many awards, including Special Jury Prize finalist award at the Prix de Lausanne International Dance Competition in Switzerland, the Junior Third at the 10th Asia-Pacific Ballet Competition in Japan, and the Junior Silver at China's top competition, the 8th Tailia Cup. He was awarded the Special Prize Bounty Award for Ballet Couple at the Varna Ballet International Competition in 2008 and the Gold Prize, Senior Division, at the Helsinki Ballet International Competition in 2009.
Junshuang has appeared in classical principal roles in many ballets, including Swan Lake, La Bayadère, La Sylphide, Coppélia, Paquita, Variations for Four, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, and Diana & Actaeon; and contemporary leading roles in works such as The same of moon, Memory, This is life, Butterfly Lovers and The Yellow River. He has also toured the United States and Switzerland as a guest artist.
In January 2013 Jun Shuang will join Queensland Ballet as Guest International Principal Dancer for eight months, marking the beginning of a new international guest artist program for the Company, generously funded by the Jani Haenke Charitable Trust.
