#Dramatic contemporary, neo-classical, and ragtime ballet collide in this exhilarating triple bill curated by Li Cunxin AO.

Be captivated by this trio of extraordinary works from Natalie Weir, Greg Horsman, and Sir Kenneth MacMillan, hand-selected by Artistic Director Li Cunxin AO.

Acclaimed Australian choreographer Natalie Weir, known internationally for her highly-physical partner work, organic movement style and her touching insight into humanity created her deeply emotive, war-themed work We Who Are Left for Queensland Ballet’s Lest We Forget series in 2016. Inspired by the music of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, which intersperses Latin text with poems written by Wilfred Owen in World War 1, this stunning exploration of raw human emotion will leave you spellbound.

Glass Concerto, by renowned international choreographer Greg Horsman, captures the pulse and escalating intensity of the brilliant music of Philip Glass in this neo-classical masterpiece. A highlight of Queensland Ballet’s 2017 RAW season, this distinctive work is a collage of sublime movement and kinetic energy, which demonstrates the speed and technical precision of Queensland Ballet artists.

In a fervour of dazzling colour and high energy, ragtime ballet Elite Syncopations is Sir Kenneth MacMillan at his most playful! The music of Scott Joplin’s King of Ragtime strikes a vibrant chord with the upbeat, hip-swinging aura of spontaneous movement and easy-going rhythms. With charmingly gaudy costumes and comic flair, this ‘dance concert’ is an explosion of uplifting music and choreography that is, quite simply, entertainment at its best.

#"Instant emotional involvement is the only possible reaction…the work is outstanding…"

Michelle Potter, DanceTabs - We Who Are Left by Natalie Weir

#" … a collage of movement that was fascinating but still cohesive …"

Limelight - Glass Concerto by Greg Horsman

#“Here is Mr MacMillan in full verve. That’s entertainment.”

The New York Times - Elite Syncopations by Sir Kenneth MacMillan
