Virgin Australia to partner with Queensland Ballet
Virgin Australia today announced a new partnership with one of Australia’s leading performing arts companies, Queensland Ballet.
Queensland Ballet was founded in 1960 and is one of only three full-time professional ballet companies in Australia, presenting around 100 performances throughout Queensland every year.
Under the partnership, Virgin Australia will become official airline and season partner of Queensland Ballet, commencing in 2013.
With the support of Virgin Australia and its domestic and international flight network, Queensland Ballet will be able to perform in more locations across the state and increase its training and community access programs.
Virgin Australia General Manager Michael Betteridge said: “2013 is a landmark year for Queensland Ballet as it heralds the commencement of one of the most well-known and well respected ballet dancers in the world, Li Cunxin, as Artistic Director.
“The Company is renowned for its passionate and dynamic performances here and overseas, as well as the work it does to foster young talent in the community.
“We are very proud to be partnering with a company that makes such an important contribution to performing arts in Australia, at such an exciting time in its evolution, and we look forward to a spectacular 2013 season”, Mr Betteridge said.
Queensland Ballet CEO Anna Marsden said: “We are delighted to be partnering with an organisation like Virgin Australia – a vibrant, stylish and innovative airline that recognises the significance of the arts in Australia.
“The partnership will enable us to achieve our vision of connecting people and dance across the state.
“It means we will be able to bring our performances to more people in regional Queensland and also deliver more education and community activities across the state”, Anna Marsden said.
