Summer School —

Registrations for Summer School 2015 have now closed.

The Summer School program aims to further young dancers’ training and improve essential skills required to advance to a higher level of excellence. Students will have the opportunity to work with other talented dance students, under the guidance of Queensland Ballet’s Artistic Staff and guest teachers.

Classes include: classical ballet technique, pointe work, male technique, pas de deux*, repertoire, character dance and contemporary dance.


In response to increased demand, the 2015 Summer School will have two intakes:

(1)   12 - 17 January, 2015
(2)   19 - 24 January, 2015

Students select one week to attend.


Monday to Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm and Saturday 10am – 2pm

A presentation for family and friends will be held at the end of Summer School.

  • Applicants must be aged between 11 and 18 years.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee placement in Summer School.
  • Summer School cost: $605 per student (inc. GST). Students enrolled in Queensland Ballet’s Junior Program in 2014 or 2015 are eligible for the discounted fee of $550 (inc. GST).
  • Applications will not be processed if illegible or incomplete.
  • Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be contacted via email by Friday 14 November 2014.

  1. Applications must be received by close of business on Monday 3 November 2014.
  2. Applicants must be aged between 11 and 18 years at 1 January 2015.
  3. Submission of application does not guarantee a place in Summer School.
  4. Queensland Ballet reserves the right to make amendments or cancellations to the Summer School program without prior notice, either before or during the program. Queensland Ballet reserves the right to merge and re-schedule classes as required, as well as move students from one level/age group to another, should staff feel the adjustment will be beneficial for the student.
  5. Queensland Ballet reserves the right to refuse enrolment or to request a participant leave Summer School if he or she is disruptive, late, has not paid fees, has not been truthful on the application or if the age requirements for the program have not been met.
  6. Queensland Ballet provides supervision of participants during program hours only.
  7. All studios and facilities used for Summer School are non-smoking.
  8. Waiting room facilities and studio seating are not available.
  9. By accepting the conditions of enrolment into Queensland Ballet Summer School, participants or their parents/guardians acknowledge that activities are physical and may involve the risk of injury or accident.
  10. Participants or parents/guardians must advise Queensland Ballet in advance if they or their child has health problems and/or requires medication while attending a session. Queensland Ballet staff cannot be responsible for the administration of medication to participants or ensuring suitable health precautions are in place.



  1. Successful applicants will receive a letter of acceptance via email by Friday 14 November 2014.
  2. It is the applicant’s responsibility to contact Queensland Ballet if you have not received any communication from Queensland Ballet to confirm your registration/acceptance.



  1. Summer School cost: $605 per student (inc. GST). Students enrolled in Queensland Ballet’s Junior Program in 2014 or 2015 are eligible for the discounted fee of $550 (inc. GST).
  2. Full payment of remaining fees must be made before Friday 12 December (successful applicants will be emailed an invoice for payment).
  3. Full payment of fees must be made in advance of Summer School.
  4. Payment can be made via cheque (payable to Queensland Ballet), credit card or EFT.



  1. Queensland Ballet is unable to offer a refund for Summer School unless the program is cancelled by the Company.
  2. A strict cancellation fee of $100 will apply to all Summer School applications.
  3. In exceptional circumstances, Summer School applicants may apply in writing for a credit transfer to Summer School 2015.  This must be accompanied by appropriate written verification/documentation, e.g. medical certificates.
  4. Queensland Ballet is generally unable to offer refunds for Summer School cancellations after applications have closed.  In exceptional circumstances and subject to written verification/medical certificates being received by Queensland Ballet, a partial refund less the Summer School cancellation fee may be given for cancellations made after the application closing date but prior to commencement. Refunds are not available once Summer School has commenced.



  1. Queensland Ballet may take and use photographs and videos of participants for promotional and archival purposes.  If you do not wish to have your/your child’s photo used  by Queensland Ballet, please advise us once you have been accepted.
  2. All material recorded during Summer School is the copyright of Queensland Ballet.
  3. Participants may not make recordings (audio, videos or photos) of any activities at Summer School.
  4. Recordings of class work are not provided to participants.



  1. Summer School teachers are highly skilled dance professionals. All staff members of Queensland Ballet hold a valid Blue Card.
  2. Details of the Summer School program schedule will be provided approximately two weeks prior to the commencement date.
  3. Classes are conducted between 9.30am – 4.30pm.
  4. Queensland Ballet collects and uses your information for Queensland Ballet records and reference only.
  5. Queensland Ballet does not provide any participant with individual feedback outside of his or her classes/sessions.
