Ken Sparrow Photo Gallery
Queensland Ballet is very fortunate to have the honorary services of photographer Ken Sparrow, who has contributed an enormous amount of time, energy and skill to the Company over the last six years.
Ken’s involvement with the Company started in early 2002, when he joined the Queensland Ballet Friends, first taking photos at the Queensland Ballet Friends Afternoon Tea at the Polo Club in December that year. He has continued to support the Friends by attending and creating a photographic record of every event since.
Six years ago, Ken also started photographing Queensland Ballet rehearsals, thus creating a wonderful and professional record of the rehearsal process, up to and including the dress rehearsal, for almost every ballet in that time. He has continued to do this free of charge.
Ken’s photos are often used to accompany press reviews and other Queensland Ballet stories in the media, including those in Dance Australia and The Courier Mail, and his work has also been included in programs for some of our international tours, Preview newsletter and other visual materials.
Ken also produces an annual professionally published “year book”, which features hundreds of rehearsal photos taken throughout the year, providing a fabulous visual record of Queensland Ballet’s work for the year.
Here is just a selection of Ken’s photos from the 2008 season:
