Blair Wood

Trainee Dancer

Blair Wood began his dance training in his native New Zealand. He appeared with the Royal New Zealand in their production of La Sylphide at the age of 10, and later performed in many productions, including national tours, which enabled him to explore his full range of performing skills. In 2005/2006, Blair undertook further dance training at Ecole Ballet Studios in Sydney, under the direction of Ashley Killar and Jane Allyn. He joined Queensland Ballet’s Professional Year in 2008, performing in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the 2008 International Gala, and Swan Lake as well as regional Queensland tours of Carmen and The Amazing Magician. He was the recipient of the George Hartnett Funerals award in that year. Blair remained in the Professional Year program in 2009, performing in A Streetcar Named Desire, the return season of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the 2009 International Gala, and The Sleeping Beauty, as well as Step Forward!, the program devised to showcase the 2009 Professional Year students. Blair joined Queensland Ballet as a Trainee dancer in January 2010.
