Trainee Dancer


Katherine Rooke received her early dance training from Elizabeth Polson-Galloway in Port Macquarie, joining Queensland Ballet’s Professional Year program in 2008 and continuing in the program in 2009. In her first year, she performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the 2008 International Gala, and The Little Mermaid, and had the role of Madame Kchessinska’s student created on her by François Klaus for his Swan Lake. In her second year, Katherine appeared in the Brisbane and regional Queensland performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as well as in the 2009 International Gala, The Sleeping Beauty, and Step Forward!, the program devised to showcase the 2009 Professional Year students. Katherine was selected to perform as an extra in the Paris Opera Ballet’s production of La Bayadère in 2009 and was taken into Queensland Ballet as a Trainee dancer in January 2010.
