Alexander began his early dance training at Brisbane’s Sayers Dance Academy, going on to train at the New Zealand School of Dance, where he graduated with his National Certificate in Dance in 2007. Highlights of his repertoire there include Balanchine’s Valse-Fantasie, in which he was Principal dancer, as well as Jiři Kilián’s Dream Dances and Evening Songs.
Alexander joined Queensland Ballet’s Professional Year Program in 2008 and in that year performed in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, International Gala 2008, The Little Mermaid, …with attitude 2008, Swan Lake and in the Company’s Japan tour of The Little Mermaid in April.
Alexander joined Queensland Ballet as a full Company member in January 2009 and in that year performed in Francois Klaus's A Streetcar Named Desire and The Sleeping Beauty, as well as in Kim McCarthy's Nineteen and Nils Christe's SYNC (....with attitude 2009), and Louise Deleur's Linage (International Gala 2009).
Alexander toured with the Company to Denmark, Switzerland and Germany in 2009.
