Alice in Wonderland

31 March – 14 April, 2012

A LAND OF WIT AND WONDER.

Come with Alice on a magical adventure as she tumbles into Wonderland! Guided by the White Rabbit, Alice meets some astonishing characters, including the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, Humpty Dumpty and those mischievous twins, Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

Basing his ballet on Lewis Carroll’s much-loved children’s books, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, François Klaus has created a captivating piece, brimful of wit, humour and charm. With its whimsical flights of the imagination, eclectic music and joyful dance, Alice in Wonderland is delightful entertainment for all ages.

Audio Description will be available at the performance on Wednesday 4 April at 6:30pm.

If you are coming along to a performance, keep an eye out for actor and dancer Dan Crestani, who will be telling the story of Alice in Wonderland in the Playhouse foyer before each performance.

Please be aware that QPAC have a limited number of booster cushions for our young patrons, but you are welcome to bring your own!

The ballet was amazing I want to be a ballet dancer too. But any way it great I liked Alice I think Bianca Scudamore played her when i saw it on the 3 of april. P.S it has always been my dream to dance like them.

We have just arrived home after a lovely day out in Brisbane city with the main aim to see your production of Alice in Wonderland at 1.30pm today. Myself and my 2 teenage daughters (17 and 15) absolutely loved the performance. The dancing was amazing and so was the costumes, staging & the music. We drove from Sunshine Coast and arrived at 9.30am and parked in the great parking at QPAC then before the Ballet we caught the excellent bus service to Paddington & did some shopping & eating there, then caught bus back to Southbank and had more time for coffee & cake before the performance. Thank you so very much - we will be back and look forward to seeing what the next school holiday performance will be as we hope to be back to see it in July

Last night's production of Alice in Wonderland was an absolute delight. Congratulations to the entire team responsible. Set design was eye catching, minimalist but meaningful. Stage management was seamless. Costumes were a visual feast with a range of colours and textures to please all tastes. The choreography was, as is often seen with Mr Klaus' expertise behind it, challenging, lyrical and exuberant all at the same time and pretty faultlessly executed by the company. Young Emma Langfield was enchanting and skilful in her execution of Alice's many moods; Blair Wood was a mesmerising Mad Hatter and Gareth Belling was the epitome of the emasculated husband. The only things that seemed a little strange to this audience member was to see a unicorn with a tuft of mane instead of a unicorn on his head and I guess only in Wonderland are lions all black. Don't ever let this ballet slip out of the repertoire. It's not just good for children, it brings out the child in adult s, which is always healthy and rewarding. Thank you all.

Fantastic!! This was such an enjoyable show - my friends & I laughed so much! The King & his facial expressions were hilarious, so was the Walrus, the Mad Hatter, White Rabbit (round 2! hehehe! if you've seen it you'll know what i mean!), Doormouse, March Hare, Caterpillar... if i continue that sentence i'll have to write every character's name as all were so fabulously portrayed by such talented dancers! The whole show was light hearted & quirky & beautiful. And how cute is little Alice! This is only the second ballet production i have ever seen (saw Francois' Swan Lake last year which i also loved!) and i am hooked! My best friend & her husband came with me tonight for their first ballet experience & they are now hooked too! Can't wait for our next Queensland Ballet production! To Francois, dancers & everyone else at Qld Ballet i would like to thank you for the wonderful & hard work you all do to bring such joy to us all & i am looking forward to my next Qld Ballet production!

Thank you for your so very special matinee performance of Alice on Saturday, the 14th. We loved it! Congratulations to everyone for this really spectacular performance, from the wonderful dancers, to the clever selection of music, to the stunning costumes and make-up, to Dan Crestoni's story-telling to the children in the foyer which set a great atmosphere for the "fun and nonsense" of Lewis Carroll's amazing story.

The High Tea was a great success - the food plus the story telling made it a special occassion! The Ballet was so colourful and so much fun to watch - a credit to you all!

Very enjoyable for both adults and children. For non-ballet enthusiasts, I thought the performance was very entertaining and kept the children enthralled from beginning till the end. The dancing and costumes were fabulous.

I was thrilled with the idea of seeing a ballet performance of Alice in Wonderland and was happily surprised to discover that it was quirky, inventive and funny. I really felt like I had gone to Wonderland, the set was amazing and the props were used very creatively. The characters were brought to life spectacularly I especially loved the dance of the Duchess and the Cook, the football match and the Battle of the Lion and Unicorn. Everything was perfect and I was on a high for hours afterwards. It was amazing and I loved every second of it. 5 stars isn't high enough of a rating to give this performance and thank you to everyone who made it possible and there simply aren't enough words of praise to give to everyone involved.

Fabulous interpretation. Very clever such as a little Alice after she drinks the shrinking potion (won't spoil it for those who haven't had the pleasure of seeing it yet). Hilarious walrus...I laughed so much and couldn't stop so was feeling conscious I would annoy others. Caterpillar to butterfly...absolutely brilliant & beautiful.

This was the first show I have been to a performance at QPAC plus the first of QLD ballet and it will not be my last. I have paid twice as much to see shows and enjoyed them half as much as Alice in Wonderland. It was fun, bright and light and the costumes were amazing. A great show for all
