The Sleeping Beauty
December 15, 2009
My mother and I thought that The Sleeping Beauty was the best performance we have ever seen, and that's saying something, because we go to LOTS of ballets, including Paris Opera! We would like a special mention to go to Yu Hui as he was a brilliant dancer - you could really see how much passion and love he puts into his dancing, so well done! Iona Marques (Carabosse) was also a standout in the show - she was fabulously dramatic and really drew attention from the audience. I thought the Bluebird variation that Francois Klaus choreographed was a good interpretation on the old classic! Well done!

A truly amazing performance ! All the performers were very intriguing and focused. The young ballerinas were fantastic and did incredibly well. For the opening night and the first performance they came across as very confident. They are natural born ballet dancers and have amazing talent. I was lucky enough to go to the after-party and meeting them was a great experience. Thank you for that wonderful experience and I look forward to seeing them in another performance soon.

What an impressive program - such depth of attitude from choreographers and dancers alike. Gareth's theme of light and prismatic colour was a winner. Kim's melding of music and colour (costumes) in dance was mesmerising. Alex (Wagner) and Rachael (Walsh) reached levels of perfectionism in their "Chant d'Amour" - a sheer delight. Nils' "Sync" was such a powerful work, impressing us with the great versatility of QB dancers - a cultural highlight of the current season.

Wow, how fantastic was Saturday! And how fantastic was SYNC? That one was stunning and the dancing was wonderful. We were so impressed with the "synchronisation". Is it possible to buy a recording of it? Well done and we look forward to the next performance.

International Gala 2009
August 9, 2009
I'd like to pass on my congratulations for a superb performance of this year's International Gala. We have attended each one for 11 years and it was up there with the best of them. The piece by Mario Schroeder was excellent, as were the Netherland dancers and West Australian dancer. We loved the edgy and technical nature of the performances. It was all good!

A Midsummer Night's Dream
May 9, 2009 - Gold Coast
I hadn't been to a ballet in years and this production was an absolute treat. I took my 3 & a half year old daughter and she was enthralled for the entire time. We both LOVED it. It really was magical and the story was more obvious than theatre productions I have seen. The dancers, the set, the costumes; everything was superb. Congratulations Queensland Ballet. We will be sure to see everything that you bring to the Coast and will head up the M1 to see the performances you don't bring here. I can't wait to take Jasmine to The Sleeping Beauty. Thank-you.

This was a beautiful performance from Queensland Ballet. They danced beautifully and the audience absolutely loved it. This was a wonderful interpretation of this ballet. The dancers technique and artistic ability was magic! Will be looking forward to seeing them again next year.

WOW, what a truly magical performance!!!! I had told my daughters about the role of mischevious 'Puck'. Yu Hui was an absolute delight to watch. His beautiful dancing and cheeky face made for a very memorable production.. We LOVED it... Can't wait till your next performance comes to Cairns.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Wonderful! One of your best yet! I loved the interpretation and choreography. The forest scene set was almost art deco, and very beautiful. Dancers performed with grace and athleticism. Well done! I could happily watch this again.

A Midsummer Night's Dream
May 16, 2009 - Toowoomba
My 2 daughters aged 7 & 10, and I, thoroughly enjoyed this performance. Both girls learn ballet and impressed me with their critique of the ballet. We all thought Amelia Waller had a lovely persona and were mesmerised by Yu Hui. Alex Wagner was vey debonaire! We were however very disappointed with the lack of costume and tights worn by the fairies. Apart from the "leave nothing to the imagination" fairy costumes, we loved the performance and Francois's innovative choreography. Thank you one and all, and all the best for the remaining tour.

Vis-a-vis Studio Series # 2
May 2, 2000, 2.00pm performance
Bravo! Another wonderful treat for us (the front-row regulars!) to enjoy! We'd especially like to congratulate Todd on his solo - what a feat! We were entertained too by all of the beautiful dancing. The boys' costumes in the Carabosse Sleeping Beauty piece were quite radical! We'd also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Keian on his dramatic role as Stanley in A Streetcar Named Desire. We can't wait for the next QB performance. Well done all!

Without doubt this is the best production yet. Absolutely fantastic and we cannot praise it highly enough. Last night's first night audience, judging by the reaction at curtain call, also felt the same way.

A Streetcar Named Desire
April 4, 2009
Bravo! Brilliant all round! As a subscriber I sat comfortably in my front-row seat, as per usual. I like to sit there to 'presume' that the dancers are dancing for me alone! Congratulations to all involved - well done yet again on raising the bar! As for the dancers - Clare Morehen: brilliant - so expressive, so well acted AND danced - you excel from one performance to the next. Keian Langdon: scary, strong, physical, convincing ... you inhabited Stanley. Melissa Tattam: a sweet but believable and emotive foil to Blanche. Well done! Yu and Todd: I always look out for your acrobatics and agility and once again you did not fail to perform! Well done! There was an amazing move by Yu midway through Act 2. I was breathless watching it! Teri Crilly: so cute - you dance and you act and you always have that gorgeous smile! It was lovely to see you paired at one stage with the tallest new dancer in the company! Nathan Scicluna: always one of my favourites! You brought empathy to the role of Mitch.

A Streetcar Named Desire
April 4, 2009
Streetcar is my favourite play of all time and I was unsure how it would be translated into a ballet. It was truly magical! The symbolism and emotion of the play was conveyed beautifully and the ending was so heartbreaking it brought tears to my eyes. A wonderful adaptation.

A Streetcar Named Desire
April 4, 2009
I thought the drama and the passion of Streetcar was superbly well conveyed. It was a combination of the sets, which very effectively moved the action back and forth, from present to past; the lighting, and the wonderful dancers. Rachael Walsh was, as usual, beautiful in her movement, and in her expression of emotion. Keian Langdon and Amelia Waller were revelations, and made a sizzling couple. The music was compelling in the way it built the drama, and it's always special to have live music. I was on an emotional roller coaster from start to finish!

I have NEVER enjoyed a ballet so much! I play piano, and the music was superb. I have never wanted to read the story but the miming of the ballet made it so wonderful. The story was gripping!!

A Streetcar Named Desire

We were enthralled with this performance - the sets were superb and the use of the Shadows was very clever. The emotion portrayed throughout the whole ballet was very moving, particularly Keian (Langdon) - I almost wanted to boo him when he came on for his final curtain call! Everyone in the cast was wonderful, so congratulations to all, especially Francois for such a creative transition of a very sombre play to a wonderful ballet.

Francois Klaus has again excelled! What a wonderful adaptation, and what moving performances, especially by Rachael Walsh and Keian Langdon. The music, dance and drama were superbly integrated. Congratulations to all.

A Streetcar Named Desire
April 8, 2009
The performance was an interesting mix of contemporary and classical styles, and the use of props was particularly unique and not something I've seen before in a ballet performance. The choreography was exceptional and wasnt just 'complemented' by the orchestra, but there was a noteable interplay between the two. I loved it! Also, the lead male role was excellent, as were some of the more minor characters including a young male dancer who appeared only very shortly as a potential suitor for the female lead. I thought it was fresh, unique and accessible.
