DISCOVERY PROGRAM

These interesting one-hour programs have been put together with both primary and secondary students in mind.

The program for upper primary and secondary students combines in-theatre performances of excerpts from a ballet with demonstrations of dance technique and an exploration of the literary or historical background of the work.

For primary aged students, performances of excerpts from a ballet are supported by demonstrations of the amazing things dancers can do - and of how they learn to do it.

IN-THEATRE PROGRAM

Queensland Ballet will present two special evenings in 2003 in the Optus Playhouse where audiences will be given the chance to see beyond the magic of a performance to how a production is 'bumped in' at a theatre, and how lighting and staging can profoundly affect the audience's experience.

Presented in conjunction with Expressions Dance Company, this program is suited to all students and offers the opportunity to learn more about the complex backstage world.

OPEN DOORS PROGRAM

Queensland Ballet opens its doors during school holiday periods each year so that the public can observe the company's training sessions, explore the wardrobe department, and learn something about the Company and its history.

ADOPT A DANCER PROGRAM

Invite a Queensland Ballet dancer to your school to give demonstrations, talk about being a professional dancer, and answer questions about Queensland Ballet and forthcoming productions. An excellent resource to help both primary and secondary teachers and students to explore the arts syllabus.

The following are available dates. Visits are possible only in the mornings. A fee of $60 (plus GST) applies for a visit of one hour or part thereof within a 50 km radius of the Brisbane city centre. Fees and dates for visits to schools further afield can be negotiated. Content of visits can be modified to meet the needs of particular schools.
